MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Baseball's
Evan Radford and Softball's
Taylor Lloyd as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of March 30.
Evan Radford (Baseball)
Evan Radford delivered a standout week at the plate, playing a key role in Montevallo's success against ranked opponent Young Harris and in an exciting conference series win over Lee.
Radford opened the week with a multi-hit performance in Montevallo's 6-3 victory over No. 14 Young Harris, finishing with two hits while helping the Falcons secure their fifth ranked win of the season. Radford continued his strong offensive production into the weekend series against Lee, contributing to multiple key moments throughout the series. In Game 1, Radford recorded an RBI ground out and added a solo home run, his ninth of the season.
His biggest moment came in Friday night's 10-inning thriller, where Radford delivered one of the most clutch hits of the season. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th, he launched a walk-off grand slam off the scoreboard in right field to cap a 16-12 comeback victory.
Radford remained a key contributor in the series finale, recording a multi-hit performance and adding an RBI double during Montevallo's historic comeback win, as the Falcons erased a 13-run deficit to secure the series.
Taylor Lloyd (Softball)
Taylor Lloyd turned in a dominant week in the circle, leading No. 20 Montevallo to multiple conference wins while continuing her impressive season.
Lloyd opened the week with a complete-game performance against Columbus State, allowing no earned runs while striking out five to earn her 18th win of the season. She limited the Cougars to just three hits over seven innings.
The senior followed that performance with an even more dominant outing in the series opener against Lee, tossing a one-hit shutout to secure her 19th win and 17th complete game of the year. Lloyd capped the week with another stellar performance in the series finale, recording her 20th win and 18th complete game while striking out 11 in a seven-inning shutout. She held Lee scoreless across back-to-back appearances, showcasing her consistency and control.
Across the week, Lloyd proved to be a dominant force in the circle, anchoring the Falcons' pitching staff as the team extended its winning streak and secured another conference series victory.
