BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference announced the 2023 Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches poll with Montevallo picked to finish seventh in the league, Wednesday.

The Falcons finished in seventh place at the 2022 GSC Championship and made an appearance at the 2022 South Region Championship where they placed 14th. UM has nine returners from the 2022 team and has seven upper classman and is led by their two seniors, Ana Watters and Amber Fisher.

"We are excited for this season to get started! We expect to see great leadership from our seniors, Amber Fisher and Ana Watters", said Associate Coach Julia Marquardt. "Amber is coming off of a very solid spring track season and Ana will be looking to make her last season as a Falcon her best one yet. The squad as a whole saw a lot of growth in the spring and have only continued to build on that throughout a strong summer of training."  

The Falcons' 2023 season will kick-off with a trip to Valdosta, Ga. on September 1 for the Valdosta State Border Clash. Montevallo will host two events this upcoming season, the annual Falcon Classic on September 15 and the NCAA DII South Regional Championship on November 4.
