MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo returns to the Division II College Sports Communicators South Region Poll as the No. 6 team in the region after a pair of wins last week.

After falling out of the regional rankings, Montevallo women's basketball rose to No. 6 in the South Region rankings after defeating West Alabama at home and heading to West Georgia for a three-point win on the road. Head Coach
Olivia Chapman's squad took a 15-point win at home over the Tigers on Jan. 17 before beating West Georgia on a buzzer-beater from
Cali Smallwood in the final seconds. The Falcons 9-5 record in conference-play puts Montevallo in the No. 3 spot in the league standings.
Montevallo is the third-highest ranked Gulf South Conference team in the regional standings while being one of five teams named in the release. The Falcons come in ahead of No. 9 Lee and behind Union (No. 1), and Valdosta State (No. 2). West Florida received votes in the latest poll.
The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives (two per conference) that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
