NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Montevallo women's track and field team has been ranked fifth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Region poll.
In the first ranking of the USTFCCCA this season, the Falcons come in ranked fifth. UM is the fifth-highest ranked Gulf South Conference team behind Lee, Mississippi College, West Georgia and Alabama Huntsville. Montevallo's ranking is higher than two other GSC schools (Christian Brothers and Shorter).
In one scored meet so far this season, UM took 10
th place at the Emory Crossplex Showdown with 31 points.
Zauren Burton had the highest finish for the Falcons as she had a second-place jump of 1.55 meters in the high jump.
Leah Dendy and
Skylar Suggitt tied for third-place in the pole vault as they both cleared heights of 3.40 meters.
The Falcons will be back in action at the Gulf South Conference Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.
