MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's cross country teams head to Clinton, Miss. to compete in the Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26. This event will open with the men's 8k at 8:30 a.m. CST, followed by the women's 6k at 9:30 a.m. CST.

Montevallo Men
Montevallo opened the season hosting the Falcon Classic, earning a fourth place finish out of 15 teams. The Falcons followed that up with a 30
th place finish out of 47 teams in a tough Southern Showcase field that featured multiple NCAA D1 teams, including Alabama, Louisville, Kentucky, and Georgia. Montevallo was the sixth highest D2 team to finish and the Falcons finished ahead of five D1 teams.
The Falcons followed that up with a first-place finish at the Michael Pretorius Invitational which featured D1 opponents in Austin Peay and Tennessee State. UM closed the regular season with a third place finish out of 20 teams in the blue race at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.
Jospeh Pitard has led the way for the men all season, most recently capturing the individual title at the Royals Cross Country Challenge. Pitard ran a season best (8k) time of 25:38.1 in Charlotte. Pitard also earned top-three individual finishes at the Falcon Classic (second) and Michael Pretorius Invitational (third).
Josh Stidfole has also been solid on the men's side, being a top-five finisher for the Falcons in each race.
Montevallo Women
UM hosted the Falcon Classic to open the season and captured a strong runner-up finish. Montevallo followed that up with a 32
nd place finish out of 49 teams in the tough Southern Showcase field. The Falcons finished as the fourth highest D2 team and placed ahead of a pair of D1 schools.
Montevallo went on to compete at the Michael Pretorius Invitational, where UM captured another runner-up finish, coming behind only NCAA D1 opponent, Austin Peay. The Falcons closed the regular season with a third place finish out of 17 teams in the blue race at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.
Natalie Warner has led the way for the women this season. Warner opened the season with her best finish (third) and time (19:24.6 – 5k) at the Falcon Classic. The senior has also placed in the top ten at the Michael Pretorius Invitational (fifth) and Royals Cross Country Challenge (ninth).
Josie McDonald,
Abby Snyder, and
Morgan Remley have all been top-five finishers for the Falcons in every race this season.
Action on Saturday is set to take place at 8:30 a.m. CST with the men's 8k, followed by the women's 6k at 9: 30 a.m. CST.
