BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo men's basketball freshman Brandon Fussell has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league, Tuesday, for the second consecutive week and third time this season.
 
Fussell, a native of Guntersville, Alabama, scored a team-high 25 points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out four assists in the lone game of the week, a 76-69 win on the road against Shorter.
 
The guard shot 60 percent from the floor, 9-of-15, and made three triples in the win. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and played 38 minutes for the Falcons.
 
This is Fussell's third Freshman of the Week award. He is the back-to-back Freshman of the Week, having earned the honor last week.
 
Fussell and the Falcons will return to action on the road against Christian Brothers on Thursday, Feb. 15, in Memphis, Tennessee.
