MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set to host Tusculum on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo opened the season with a loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle at home before taking an 18-11 win over North Greenville on Feb. 9. The Falcons then fell to No. 7 Rollins in the final game of a three-game homestand to open the 2024 campaign. Montevallo began a three-game road trip with an 18-10 loss to Belmont Abbey before the Falcons travelled to Limestone for a 17-6 loss on Feb. 18. In the final game of the road trip, Montevallo fell to SCAD-Savannah 16-14. The Falcons returned to the win column with a dominant 21-6 win over Malone on Tuesday, March 5. Most recently, Montevallo opened the Gulf South Conference schedule with a 20-7 loss on the road at Lander on Sunday, March 10.
The Falcons' attack averages 10.38 goals per game on a league-leading .562 free position shot percentage while tallying 4.88 assists per contest. Montevallo's 10.38 goals per game come on a .529 shot percentage with an average of 19.62 shots per game and 14.88 shots on goal per game. Montevallo's defense forces 8.88 turnovers per game with an average of 14.75 ground balls per game. Kiley Shea's 19 goals and four assists for a team-leading 23 points. The junior attacker also holds a 6-for-9 mark in free-position opportunities while also leading the squad with 22 draw controls. Shea is followed by freshman
Ellery Shearer with a total of 15 goals and four more assists for 19 points while
Mikaela Barbieri ranks third on the team with 14 goals and four assists. Defensively,

Ashlei Piazza highlights the Falcons' goalkeeping corps with a .348 save percentage and a 2-3 record on 16.10 goals against average.

Just over a month into the season, Tusculum holds a 3-6 overall record with a 1-3 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. The Pioneers opened the season with a 14-7 win over Shorter before falling to Lee, 20-5, on Feb. 10. Tusculum then took a 20-3 loss to Lander before dropping a meeting with No. 25 Limestone, 18-5, on Feb. 21. The Pioneers returned to winning ways with back-to-back wins over Thomas More ,17-9, and Catawba, 12-10. Tusculum opened the month of March with a 17-5 loss to Newberry before falling to Alabama Huntsville in a neutral site contest, 19-8. Most recently, Tusculum fell to No. 16 Wingate, 20-9, on Friday, March 8.
The Pioneers score an average of 8.67 goals per game on an average of 22.11 shots per game and 16.67 shots on goal per game. Tusculum averages 3.22 assists per game for an 11.89 points per game mark. Defensively, Tusculum tallies 7.22 caused turnovers per game with an average of 15.67 ground balls per game while allowing its opponents to score 15.56 goals per game on a .417 save percentage. Tusculum's offense is led by Lucy Brewer with a total of 20 goals and five assists for 25 points through nine games. TU's Cassidy Bourne leads the team with six assists while scoring nine goals for a second-place 15 points. Brewer is also one of the top defenders on the team with 14 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls while also leading the squad with 42 draw controls. In the net, Emily White has started all nine games so far this season with 95 total saves and a 42.4-percent save mark while allowing an average of 15.64 goals.
