PITTSBURGH, KS. – The University of Montevallo women's track and field's Nyla Shipman continues to place herself in the Montevallo history book as she placed in 12
th at the NCAA Division II National Championship in the weight throw, Friday.
Shipman became the highest-finisher of any Falcon thrower in program history with her 12
th place finish. In her first throw, Shipman had a distance of 17.03 meters. In her last throw, she had a throw with a distance of 18.06 meters which had her in fourth place for the first flight.
"What an indoor season for Nyla," said Head Coach
Tommy Barksdale. "She came out with Second Team All-American status. We are so proud of Nyla and she represented the Falcons well!"
"I can't express how proud I am of Nyla," said throwing coach, Micah Clemons. "She showed up ready to compete. To finish Second Team All-American is an achievement she should be proud of. I'm looking forward to what to what she does outdoors."
With her performance in the weight throw, Nyla Shipman has been named the first All-American thrower in program history.
