MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse continues a three-game road trip with a trip to Huntsville, Ala. for the second Gulf South Conference contest of the season against Alabama Huntsville on Monday night.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo comes into Monday night's game with a 3-8 overall record and an 0-1 mark in GSC action. The Falcons opened the season with a loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle before grabbing the first win of the season over North Greenville, 18-11, on Feb. 9. The Falcons then dropped a matchup with No. 7 Rollins before falling to Belmont Abbey and Limestone in back-to-back road games. In a neutral-site meeting against SCAD-Savannah, the Falcons fell 16-14 before bouncing back with a dominant 21-6 victory over Malone on March 5. Montevallo opened GSC action with a loss to Lander on the road on March 10. The Falcons returned home for a 14-11 win over Tusculum on March 13. The Falcons then faced back-to-back ranked opponents in losses to RV Saint Leo and, most recently, a 16-9 loss to No. 20 Lynn.
The Falcons' attack averages 9.91 goals per game on a .512 shot percentage with an average of 14.91 shots on goal per game. Montevallo scores 13.82 points per game with an average of 4.45 assists per contest. Defensively, Montevallo forces 8.55 turnovers per game with an average of 13.82 ground balls per outing.
Individually, Montevallo is led by junior midfielder
Kiley Shea with 26 goals and seven assists for a team-high 33 points on the season. Shea also leads the Falcons with 31 draw controls. Shea is followed closely by
Ellery Shearer with 24 goals and five assists for 29 total points in her debut season as a Falcon. Defensively,
Madison Sobolewski leads Montevallo with 19 caused turnovers and the most ground balls by a position player with 12. In the net, Mackenzie Griffin leads the Falcons with 45 saves and a team-high .363 save percentage.

Alabama Huntsville heads into Monday's meeting with an 8-5 overall record and a 1-0 mark in GSC play after opening 2024 with a 17-12 win over Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 3. The Chargers then fell to No. 7 Rollins in a neutral site game hosted by the Falcons. UAH then took back-to-back wins over North Greenville and No. 24 Saint Leo before dropping a home matchup with No. 2 Florida Southern. The Chargers bounced back with a four-game win streak sparked by a 20-8 win over Ashland with another 20-8 win over Thomas More on March 3. The Chargers then added a 19-8 win over Tusculum before shutting out Malone 21-0 on March 9. UAH went on a three-game skid with losses to No. 5 Tampa, No. 20 Lynn and No. 6 Maryville. Most recently, UAH opened the GSC schedule with a 20-7 win over Lee on March 28.
The Chargers score on average of 13.62 goals per game on an average of 25.62 shots per game and a .615 shot percentage with 20.08 shots on goal per game. The Chargers tally 18.00 points per game with an added 4.38 assists per game. Defensively, UAH caused 10.92 turnovers per game with a total of 19.46 ground balls.
UAH is led offensively by Sarah Cole with 32 goals on the season while Isadora Springer leads UAH with 41 points on 30 goals and 11 assists. On the defensive end, Riley Kirby leads the team with 25 caused turnovers while adding a total of 21 ground balls.

UAH controls the series with Montevallo with a 13-0 record in the nine-year history of Falcons women's lacrosse. The two sides have met at least twice in five seasons with Montevallo facing off with the Chargers three times back in 2019. Most recently, Montevallo fell to UAH 21-11 at home on April 6, 2023.
