MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set to host Lee for the penultimate game of the regular season on Saturday, April 13 at 4 p.m.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo heads into the weekend with a 3-10 overall record and an 0-3 mark in Gulf South Conference action. The season began with a loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle before the Falcons picked up the first win of the season with an 18-11 win over North Greenville on Feb. 9. The Falcons then dropped a meeting with No. 7 Rollins on Feb. 11 before heading out for a three-game road trip. Montevallo dropped a game to Belmont Abbey on the road before falling to Limestone on Feb. 18. The Falcons then fell in a neutral-site contest to SCAD-Savannah, 16-14, on Feb. 23. Montevallo returned home for a dominant 21-6 win over Malone on March 5 before losing the first GSC contest of the season at Lander on March 10. In a home matchup with Tusculum on March 13, Montevallo walked away with a 14-11 win. The Falcons then fell to back-to-back ranked opponents with road losses at Saint Leo and Lynn. Montevallo opened the heart of the GSC schedule with an 18-6 loss to Alabama Huntsville before falling to Flagler, 21-4, in its most recent outing.
The Falcons average 9.15 goals per game on an average of 18.00 shots per game while adding 4.00 assists for an average of 13.15 points per game. The Falcons' defense forces 8.00 turnovers per game while grabbing 13.23 ground balls per game. Montevallo also averages 12.46 draw controls per game for a .431 draw control percentage.
Individually, Montevallo is led by junior
Kiley Shea with a total of 34 points on a team-high 27 goals and seven assists while also tallying 11 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Freshman
Ellery Shearer follows closely behind with 26 goals to go along with five assists for a total of 31 points. Defensively,
Madison Sobolewski leads the Falcons' backline with 19 caused turnovers.

The Lady Flames enter Saturday's matchup with a 7-7 overall record and an 0-2 mark in GSC play. Lee's season began with a 17-11 win over UVA Wise before dropping a matchup with Rollins, 21-12, on Feb. 6. The Lady Flames then rattled off four-straight wins sparked by a 20-5 win over Tusculum before defeating Lincoln Memorial 16-10. Lee continued its streak with a 13-8 win over Rhodes before heading to Belmont Abbey for a 17-10 win on the road. Lee then dropped a matchup wit Lynn, 19-14, on Feb. 29 before adding a 23-6 win over Thomas More on March 5. The Lady Flames then dropped back-to-back games on the road at Tampa and Florida Southern before returning home for a 16-15 overtime over Young Harris on March 21. Currently, Lee is on a three-game losing streak with a loss to Embry-Riddle before falling on the road to UAH, 20-7. Most recently, Lee fell to Lander, 15-7, on April 7.
Through 14 games, Lee averages 14.00 goals per game on 27.07 shots per game and a .517 shooting percentage while adding 5.29 assists per game for a total of 19.29 points per contest. The Lady Flames average 18.14 ground balls per game while forcing 6.14 turnovers per game. In the circle, Lee wins 15.86 draws per game with a .501 draw control percentage.
Individually, Lee is highlighted by Maggie Luzier with a team-high 54 points on 37 goals and 17 assists while grabbing 26 ground balls and forcing 15 turnovers. Hannah Vecsey ranks second on the team in points with a total of 48 points on 23 goals with a team-leading 25 assists. In the net, Kaleigh Bernard leads the Lady Flames with 88 saves with a 5-7 record on the season.
Series History Against Lee:
Saturday's matchup will be the tenth meeting between Montevallo and Lee women's lacrosse with the Flames holding a 5-4 record over the Falcons in the previous nine matchups. The series began with three-straight Falcon victories from 2017 to 2018. Since then, Montevallo is 1-5 against the Lady Flames with Lee currently on a four-game winning streak in the series. Most recently, Montevallo fell to Lee, 13-8, on April 15, 2023.
