MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse heads into the final weekend of the season for a meeting with Shorter at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons head into the final game of the season with a 3-11 overall record and an 0-4 mark in Gulf South Conference action. The season opened with a loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle before the Falcons picked up an 18-11 win over North Greenville on Feb. 9. Montevallo went on to drop four-consecutive game with losses to No. 7 Rollins, and road losses to Belmont Abbey and Limestone. A 16-14 loss to SCAD-Savannah capped the Falcons skid before the Falcons snapped the streak with a dominant 21-6 win over Malone on March 5. The Falcons then suffered the first GSC loss of the season at the hands of Lander on March 10. Montevallo added a 14-11 win over Tusculum before going on a five-game skid. The Falcons dropped back-to-back road contests at Saint Leo and Lynn before opening the heart of the GSC schedule with an 18-6 loss to Alabama Huntsville on April 1. Montevallo fell to No. 12 Flagler on April 6 before falling to Lee, 14-11, in the most recent outing on April 13.
The Falcons average 9.29 goals per game on a .516 shot percentage with an average of 18.00 shots and 14.14 shots on goal per game. Montevallo also adds 3.79 assists per game for an average of 13.07 points per game. Defensively, Montevallo allows 16.86 goals per game while forcing 8.07 caused turnovers per game. The Falcons average 13.50 ground balls per game while winning 12.21 draws per game for a .422 draw control percentage.

Kiley Shea and
Ellery Shearer on the offensive end with 29 goals apiece while Shea leads the team in points with 36 points while adding seven assists.
Jenna Piazza ranks third on the squad with 22 goals and nine assists for 31 points. Defensively, the Falcons are led by
Madison Sobolewski with 19 ground balls while the junior defender has added 16 draw controls and 14 ground balls. Shea also leads the Falcons with 35 draw controls on the season while
Chloe Norman ranks second with 31 ground balls.

Shorter enters the final game of the season with a 2-10 overall record and an 0-4 record in GSC play. The Hawks opened the season with three road losses to Anderson, Tusculum and Emmanuel before hosting Saint Leo in a 19-7 loss. Shorter dropped a matchup with Life on Feb. 21 before picking up the first win of the season with a 24-9 win over Southern Wesleyan on Feb. 24. The Hawks fell to Embry-Riddle before picking up a 13-12 overtime win over Berry College on March 19. Shorter opened the GSC schedule with a pair of losses to Flagler and Alabama Huntsville on the road. The Hawks then dropped a home game to Lander, 19-4, on April 13 before falling to Lee, 14-9, in the most recent outing on April 16.
Shorter scores an average of 7.42 goals per game on a .436 shot percentage with 17.00 shots and an average of 13.67 shots on goal. The Hawks also add an average of 2.75 assists per game for 10.17 points. Defensively, Shorter forces 5.67 turnovers per game while scooping up 16.50 ground balls per game.
The Hawks are led individually by Cassidy Jones with 21 goals while adding three assists for a total of 24 points. Jones is followed by Tori Wolf with 14 goals as the only two players with double-digit goals this season. Defensively, Anna Grace Crane leads the team with 17 caused turnovers while adding 21 ground balls and 18 draw controls.
Series History Against Shorter:
Montevallo holds a 6-4 record in the all-time series against Shorter that began back in 2016. The Hawks opened the series with a four-game winning streak before the Falcons picked up the first win on March 18, 2018. Since then, the Falcons on 5-0 against the Hawks with a pair of wins during the 2018 season and the 2019 season. In 2022, the Falcons defeated Shorter 16-5 before taking a 17-2 win on the road in the most recent matchup on April 8, 2023.
