MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set to continue the Gulf South Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon when the Falcons take on No. 12 Flagler.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo heads into the weekend with a 3-9 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference play. The Falcons' season began with a loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle at home before Montevallo added an 18-11 win over North Greenville on Feb. 9. In the final game of a three-game homestand to open the season, Montevallo fell to No. 7 Rollins. Montevallo then dropped back-to-back road contests at Belmont Abbey and Limestone. In a neutral-site meeting with SCAD-Savannah, Montevallo lost a tightly contested game 16-14. The Falcons ended a four-game losing streak with a dominant 21-6 victory over Malone before opening GSC play with a loss at Lander. Montevallo added its third win of the season with a 14-11 victory over Tusculum before falling in consecutive ranked contests on the road at Saint Leo and Lynn. Most recently, the Falcons dropped a meeting with Alabama Huntsville, 18-6, on April 1.
The Falcons' attack scores an average of 9.58 goals per game on a .507 shot percentage while adding 4.25 assists per game for a total of 13.83 points per game. Montevallo averages 18.92 shots per game with 14.75 of those shots on target. Defensively, the Falcons' force 8.17 turnovers per game while tallying 13.83 ground balls per game. Montevallo averages 12.58 draw controls per game with a .434 draw control percentage.

Kiley Shea who leads the team in goals with 26 and points at 33 while leading the Falcons with 32 draw controls. Freshman attacker
Ellery Shearer ranks second on the squad with 24 goals and five assists for a total of 29 points. Junior attacker
Jenna Piazza ranks first in the GSC with a .786 free-position percentage on 11 goals in 14 attempts. Defensively,
Madison Sobolewski leads Montevallo with 19 caused turnovers while
MacKenzie Griffin leads the Falcons' goalkeepers with 52 saves and a .366 save percentage.

The Saints come into Saturday's contest with a 12-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in GSC play as the No. 12 team in the IWLCA national poll. Flagler's season began with back-to-back wins over Florida Tech and Palm Beach Atlantic before the Saints fell to No. 2 Florida Southern on Feb. 14. The Saints went on to take down Lincoln Memorial, 18-4, before adding an 11-10 win over Saint Leo. Flagler then rattled off three ranked wins in a row sparked by an 11-10 win over No. 11 Embry-Riddle on the road before adding a15-10 win over No. 22 Assumption. The following week Flagler took down No. 22 Seton Hill before adding a victory over Westminster on March 10. Flagler then added wins over Newberry and Frostburg State before falling for just the second time this season with a loss to No. 16 Lynn. The Saints began the GSC schedule with a 24-3 win over Shorter before adding a 23-11 win over Lander in the most recent FC outing.
The Saints' offense scores 16.50 goals per game on a .478 shots percentage with 6.57 assists per game for a total of 23.07 points per game. Flagler takes 34.50 shots per game with 26.14 of those shots on goal. Defensively, Flagler forces 10.21 turnovers per game while grabbing 17.57 ground balls per game. The Saints win .603 percent of draws with an average of 17.36 draw controls per game.
Individually, the Saints are led by Carley Tepel with 47 points on a team-high 40 goals and seven assists while Tristan Usher ranks second on the squad with 30 goals and a team-high 16 assists for 46 points. Flagler's Carly LaFerriere has been strong on the draws with 66 draw controls in 14 games. Defensively, Flagler is lead by Jenn Seebach with 22 caused turnovers on the season while Lauren Ribadeneira leads the goalkeepers with a .411 save percentage and a 10.06 goals-against average.
Series History Against Flagler:
The two sides have met just twice with Flagler holding a 2-0 record against the Falcons. The first meeting back on April 23, 2022 ended in an 18-148 Saints win before Flagler defeated Montevallo, 19-8, on April 1, 2023.
