2024 Falcon Cup Winners: Women's Soccer, Men's Lacrosse

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the recipients of the 9th annual Falcon Cup, recognizing student-athletes for their achievements in their field of play, sportsmanship, team spirit, community service and academic excellence.

The 2024 Falcon Cup features two new recipients.

Women's Soccer earned the honor on the women's side and Men's Lacrosse won the men's side.  This is the third year the awards have been split and given to the highest-earning men's team and highest-earning women's team.

The Falcon Cup is awarded to the team that excels best in academics, community service, and student-athlete game attendance during the academic year.  The award also takes into consideration the team's overall record for the season, post-season record, and record against in-state opponents.

Women's Soccer earned the honor for the first time in the awards' nine-year history after compiling successful campaigns on the field and in the classroom this year.

The Men's Lacrosse team earned the Falcon Cup award for the first time and is just the third men's team to win alongside men's soccer in 2022 and baseball in 2023.

Men's Lacrosse finished with 666 total points in the standings following a 9-6 record, a Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Championship, a 3.099 spring GPA and over 500 community service hours.

Women's Soccer totaled 687 points in the standings as the team finished with a 12-5-3 record, advanced to the Gulf South Conference Tournament Final, 3.593 fall GPA and averaged 9.37 community service hours per student-athlete.

Women's Basketball finished second on the women's side with 656 total points while Baseball finished second on the men's side with 529.7 points.

Next year's Falcon Cup starts in the fall 2024 semester with academics, competition, community service, "Win the State" games and supporting fellow student-athletes.
