HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the UAH Chargers XC Invitational on Saturday morning, Oct. 11, at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
The meet featured a deep and competitive field, including several Gulf South Conference opponents, providing a valuable mid-season test as the Falcons continue preparing for conference.
Men's 8K
The Montevallo men's team placed 12
th out of 26 teams, scoring 346 points in a field stacked with regional and conference contenders, including top GSC programs UAH, Lee, and West Alabama.
Freshman
Zak Ferguson continued his outstanding season with a ninth-place individual finish, clocking a personal-best time of 24:38.50 which is the second fasted 8K time in program history.
Jackson Howse was the next Falcon across the line, placing 87
th in 26:10.80.
Ryan Cox recorded a personal best of 26:35.00 to finish 106
th, while
Estan Wrights and
Joshua Howard rounded out the scoring five, both finishing in 137
thwith a time of 27:05.40, a personal best for Wrights.
The men's squad continues to show development, highlighted by multiple PRs in one of the strongest fields they have faced this season.
Women's 6K
In the women's 6K, their first at this distance this season, Montevallo finished 17
th out of 26 teams. The Falcons faced a tough challenge, racing against GSC rivals including Lee, UAH, West Florida, Christan Brothers, and West Alabama.
Sable George once again led the team, finishing 56
th overall with a time of 22:56.40.
Ava Taylor following in 92
nd with a 23:36.50, while
Morgan Remley posted a personal best of 24:09.00 to finish 123
rd.
Breanna Aultman (25:35.90) and
Sarah Turner (26:15.90) completed the scoring five in 169
th and 187
th.
The women's team gained valuable experience in the longer distance and remains focused on tightening their pack heading into the final stretch of the season. '
