BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its sixth set of weekly awards on Tuesday morning, with three Falcons being recognized.
Dominic Kienzle was named GSC Player of the Week, while
Andre Etcheverry earned his second consecutive Goalkeeper of the Week award, and
Tomas Prieto picked up Freshman of the Week honors.
Kienzle picked up his first career weekly award, being tabbed GSC Player of the Week after recording two goals and an assist in 131 minutes of action this week. Kienzle's most notable game came on Friday, as he recorded a brace and picked up an assist in only 49 minutes played in Montevallo's 4-0 win over Spring Hill. Kienzle's second goal against the Badgers was his tenth of the season which is now tied for first in Division II. He recorded five shots with three being on goal this week.
Etcheverry was named GSC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week, after a pair of clean sheets against Spring Hill and No. 21 West Florida. Etcheverry's best performance came on Sunday, as his clean sheet and four saves against UWF came in a 0-0 draw. Etcheverry faced a total of 15 shots against the Argos. On Friday, the junior recorded two saves and faced seven shots in a 4-0 shutout win over Spring Hill. Etcheverry has now recorded three consecutive clean sheets to help Montevallo remain unbeaten in GSC play.
Prieto earned his first career weekly award, being named GSC Freshman of the Week after recording a goal and an assist in 67 minutes of action this week. Prieto's goal and assist came in Montevallo's 4-0 win over Spring Hill. Against the Badgers, he recorded four shots which were all on target (1.000 SOG%). Prieto added one shot against No. 21 West Florida on Sunday.
Montevallo Men's Soccer returns to action on Friday, Oct. 17, for a road contest against Auburn Montgomery.
