TALLADEGA, Ala. – The University of Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling team secures their first win in program history on Wednesday, Feb. 12 over Talladega. The Falcons defeated the Tornadoes 245.480-189.554.
The Falcons hit the ground running in the compulsory event, as they outscored Talladega 35.150-27.800. In the acro heat, they scored 7.85 while their precision and execution were evident in the pyramid and toss heat with scores of 9.65 and 9.55. The 9.65 score in the pyramid was their highest total in a heat during the night. They finished with an 8.10 for a total score of 35.150 in the compulsory.
Montevallo kept the momentum going in the acro event with scores of 8.45 in heat one, 8.05 in heat two and 7.75 in heat three for a total score of 24.250. The Falcons won the pyramid event as they notched scores of 8.75, 9.40 and 9.25 for a total of 27.400.
In the toss event, the team of
Mel Low,
Corrine Wilcox,
Rilyn McAllister,
Ashley Allen and
Payton Roach would get a total of 9.10 in the first heat. In the synchronized toss, UM scored 7.80.
Katie Quinn,
Raedyn Register,
Jessica Batcho,
Morgan Wright and
Olivia Preston pulled in 8.35 points for the open toss. Montevallo's total would be 25.250 compared to Talladega's 19.600.
The Falcons pulled away in the tumbling event as
Katie Quinn and
Avery Grant got UM started with 8.35 in the duo pass.
Makayla Robinson,
Ally Torres and
Olivia Preston had a 7.90 in the trio pass. In the quad pass as
Kyla Krause,
Morgan Wright,
Rilyn McAllister and
Raedyn Register got an 8.925. The aerial pass was the Falcons highest scoring of the tumbling event as
Avery Grant got an 8.925. McAllister and Quinn received an 8.30 and an 8.625 in the six element and open.
In the team event, Montevallo capped off a historic night with an 83.980 with 20 total athletes in the event.

Acrobatics and Tumbling will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 22 as they take on No. 13 Saint Leo. The meet will take place inside Marion Bowman Activities Center in Saint Leo, Florida.
