MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team continues GSC play this weekend, as the Falcons are set to host Mississippi College in a three-game series.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo holds an overall record of 7-5 and a 2-1 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida.
This Falcons saw action earlier this week, splitting a doubleheader with Spring Hill. The Falcons won the first game, defeating Spring Hill 4-2.
Taylor Lloyd pitched five shutout innings, while
Becca Benton went 2-for-2 and earned the first UM home run of the season.
On the season,
Ariana Pinder leads the Falcons in multiple categories including batting average (.395), hits (17), and on-base percentage (.400).
Becca Benton posts the highest slugging percentage (.500) after earning the first home run for the Falcons this season this week.
Kennedy Hussey has a team leading-eight walks.
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, totaling 35.2 innings pitched. The junior holds a 3-1 record and has posted a 1.96 ERA.
Rachel Whiddon has earned two wins and one save in 14 innings pitched, while
Berkley Mooney has picked up one win and pitched 18.1 innings.

Mississippi College holds an overall record of 8-7 and an 0-3 mark in GSC play.
The Lady Choctaws opened the season defeating No. 7 Augustana, Southern Arkansas, Shorter, Kentucky Wesleyan, Young Harris, and Georgia Southwestern in non-conference play. MC has fell to Harding, Washburn, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and Lincoln Memorial.
The Lady Choctaws opened conference play last weekend, dropping three games to West Alabama. The Lady Choctaws bounced back, winning a pair of midweek contests over Miles.
On the season, Blakeley Gill has been solid this season, leading the team and the entire GSC in hits (22), home runs (three), RBIs (17), slugging percentage (.826), and hit-by-pitches (five). Gill also has a team leading-.478 batting average.
In the circle, Camryn Bailey and Madison Jenkins have seen the most time in the circle. Bailey (4-3) has posted a 1.49 ERA in 47 innings pitched, while Jenkins posts a 2.63 ERA in 32 innings pitched.
