MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to host Columbus State in a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 2:00 p.m. CST.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo holds an overall record of 7-5 and a 2-1 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The Falcons then split a doubleheader with Spring Hill.
Last weekend, the Falcons hosted Mississippi College in a three-game series, dropping the series 2-1.
Becca Benton had a solid weekend against the Choctaws, going 5-for-8, which included a home run and two RBIs.
Addy Tillery picked up her first collegiate win and
Taylor Lloyd recorded a save on the weekend.
On the season,
Ariana Pinder leads the team in multiple categories including batting average (.383), hits (18), and on-base percentage (.400).
Becca Benton has been solid as well and leads the team in doubles (five), RBIs (nine), home runs (two), and runs (eight).
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, totaling 49.2 innings pitched. The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native has picked up three wins and one save. Lloyd has recorded a team leading-36 strikeouts and posts a 2.54 ERA.
Berkley Mooney boasts a team best-1.72 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched, while ranking second in the GSC in opposing batting average (.189).
Rachel Whiddon has recorded two wins and one save, while posting a 2.33 ERA in 15 innings pitched.

Columbus State holds an overall record of 11-1 this season. The Cougars opened the season with a 2-1 series victory over Newberry. The Cougars followed that up taking three games from Union. CSU has earned three consecutive doubleheader sweeps, defeating Albany State, Shorter, and Carson-Newman.
Holly Lynn has been solid for the Cougars, leading the team in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (1.318), and home runs (six), while also tying for the team lead in hits with 11. Nova Wright has a team leading-14 RBIs.
The Cougars have been strong in the circle, as Julianna Franklin has a perfect 7-0 record on the season. Franklin posts a 0.96 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched. Lily Miller holds a 4-1 record, with a 1.25 ERA in 28 innings pitched.
