Softball Ready for Charger Chillout

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to play five games at the Charger Chillout in Albertville, Ala. this weekend.

The Falcons opened the season last weekend, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian in eight innings (3-2), while falling to No. 9 Rogers State 7-1.

Ariana Pinder leads the way for the Falcons in multiple categories including, hits (three), batting average (.500), and runs batted in (two). Kiley Christopher, Bentlee Stiner, and Molly Pendley all have multiple hits so far this season for Montevallo.

Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, allowing two hits, two runs (both unearned), and three walks, while picking up a strikeout in 6.1 innings pitched. Berkley Mooney captured the lone win for the Falcons and has made two appearances, allowing one hit and two runs (one earned) in 3.2 innings pitched.

FRIDAY
The Falcons open action on Friday with a pair of games against Kentucky Wesleyan College (1:00 p.m.) and Shorter (3:30 p.m.).

Friday's opening game will serve as the season opener for Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers finished last season with an overall record of 17-31.

Shorter (0-2) opened the season last weekend, dropping a pair of home games against Mars Hill (0-1, 7-10). Alex Hollingsworth is leading the way for the Hawks in multiple categories including hits (three), batting average (.500), runs batted in (three), and home runs (one). Alana Loyd was solid in the circle, pitching a complete game in a tight 1-0 loss. Loyd allowed five hits and struck out a pair.

SATURDAY
The Saturday slate includes games against Young Harris (11:00 a.m.) and Georgia Southwestern (1:30 p.m.).

Young Harris enters the tournament with a 1-1 record. The Mountain Lions split a pair of home contests against Georgia College (5-4, 4-5). After the opening weekend, Shelby Duncan is leading Young Harris in hits (four), batting average (.800), and doubles (two). Grace Young has seen the most action in the circle for the Mountain Lions, allowing three hits and four runs through 5.2 innings.

Georgia Southwestern enters the season with an overall record of 1-3. The Lady Canes opened the season last weekend, splitting with Florida Southern (5-0, 0-4) and dropping a pair to No. 10 Tampa (1-2, 1-3). Madison Banks leads the team statistically, boasting five hits, two RBIs, and a .385 batting average. Graceanne Spears (1-1) leads the way in the circle, with a team leading-13 innings pitched. Spears has allowed seven hits, two runs, and five walks, while striking out seven.

SUNDAY
Montevallo closes the Charger Chillout with one game on Sunday against Lincoln Memorial (1:30 p.m.).

The Railsplitters won a pair of games over Lees-McRae College (11-1, 10-9), while splitting a pair against Tiffin (1-5, 9-2). Jordan Reagan has a team leading-five hits, while Hanna Bogoski has a team leading-.500 batting average. Halle Grace Patton leads the way for LMU on the mound, picking up three wins on opening weekend. Patton has allowed six runs, 15 hits, and three walks, while striking out 11 in 15 innings pitched.

First pitch in Albertville, Ala. is set for 1:00 p.m. as the Falcons will face off against Kentucky Wesleyan.
