MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set to host a pair of Sunshine State Conference teams in the Falcons' first two home meetings of 2025.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo enters the second weekend of competition with a 1-1 record after a two-game road trip to start the season. On Jan. 31, Montevallo opened the season with a 16-15 win over Converse in Spartanburg, S.C. before the Falcons fell to Emmanuel, 18-16, on Feb. 2.
Through two games, Montevallo averages 16 goals per game on a total of 54 shots with 45 shots on goal and .818 shots on goal percentage. The Falcons have also tallied 12 assists for a total of 44 points in the first two games of the season. Defensively, Montevallo forced 15 turnovers per game while picking up 18.5 ground balls per game. Montevallo has been strong on clears with a 25-for-36 mark while adding 22 draw controls in the opening weekend.
Montevallo's attack is led by
Ellery Shearer who scored seven goals in each of the Falcons' first two games for a total of 14 points and a 4-for-4 mark on free-position shots.
Mikaela Barbieri ranks second on the squad with six goals while adding an assist for seven points.
Jenna Piazza leads the Falcons with three assists while
Bridget Quayle and
Madison Sobolewski lead the team with five caused turnovers.
MacKenzie Griffin has played every minute in goal this season and averages 12.5 saves per game with a .431 save percentage.

Lynn's matchup with the Falcons on Friday afternoon is the season opener for the Knights but a season ago Lynn finished with a 13-6 overall record before falling to Florida Southern in the second round of the SSC tournament. Lynn earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2024 but exited with a first-round loss to third-seeded Tampa on May 16, 2024.
Lynn's Kristyn Johnson and Rebecca Clark were both named USA Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans with Johnson scoring 75 goals in 2024 to lead the Sunshine State Conference and earning the program's first USA Lacrosse All-American recognition. Clark finished last season with a total of 49 goals and a team-high 10 free-position goals.
Series History Against Lynn:
Montevallo is 0-2 all-time against Lynn since the series began on Feb. 12, 2023. In the first game of the series, Montevallo fell, 17-7, in central Alabama before falling 16-9, on March 26, 2024, in Florida.

Embry-Riddle enters the weekend matchup with a 1-0 record after opening the season with an 18-4 win over Alabama Huntsville on Feb. 1.
In the Eagles' season opener, Embry-Riddle fired 29 shots with 23 shots on goal while adding eight assists for a total of 26 points. Defensively, ERAU forced 15 turnovers from UAH while adding 24 ground balls and eight saves. The Eagles added a 12-for-14 mark in clears while picking up 24 ground balls.
Callison Foreman led the Eagles with six points on five goals and one assist in the season opener while Eliana Enners tallied six points on four goals and two assists with a team-high eight ground balls. Sallie Squire tallied eight draw controls for a game-high while Ella-Rae Cox tallied eight saves in 60 minutes in goal.

Embry-Riddle holds a 4-0 record in the series against Montevallo since a 20-14 ERAU win on March 3, 2018. In each of the last two season, Montevallo fell, 16-9, on March 29, 2023, before falling on Feb. 3, 2024, 20-4.
