Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Montevallo women's lacrosse slips to 3-4 on the season after falling to Young Harris, 17-13, on the road.
Young Harris jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of action before
Asha Jamieson beat the keeper to put Montevallo on the board with 9:28 on the clock. On the next Falcon possession,
Amber Lynch found the back of the net for her first goal of the season and cut the lead to 4-2. YHC added another before
Ellery Shearer scored back-to-back Montevallo goals to make the score 5-4 with 3:51 on the clock. Montevallo's
MacKenzie Griffin record a trio of saves in the final minute of the first to send the game to the second with the Falcons trailing by one.
Following a YHC goal to open the second, Shearer scored her third of the day at the 11:39 mark to keep the Falcons within one at 6-5. Griffin added another pair of saves before Shearer again answered a Mountain Lion goal with 6:55 left in the half. With just 30 seconds until the break,
Claire Withington ended a 4-0 Young Harris run with her 12th goal of the season to head into halftime with Young Harris leading 11-7.
Out of the locker room, Young Harris extended its lead to 12-7 with a goal at the 13:11 mark before Shearer scored a pair of goals in just under a minute to trim the lead down to three with 8:22 to go. With 5:58 on the clock,
Chloe Norman's third goal of the season brought the Falcons back within two at 12-10. YHC answered with two goals of its own to stretch the lead back out to four. Withington tallied her second goal of the day with just 48 seconds remaining to keep the Falcons close heading to the fourth.
Young Harris scored back-to-back goals to open the final stanza that stretched its lead out to 16-11. The Mountain Lions added another goal to go up by six with 7:59 to go.
Carsyn Tinney and Jamieson looked to spark to comeback with a pair of goals just 46 seconds apart, but YHC hold on to take a 17-13 win over Montevallo.
