CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Montevallo softball team dropped a close contest in its series opener at Lee, falling 4-3 on Friday.
The Falcons got started early as
Bentlee Stiner hit a leadoff double in the top of the first.
Becca Benton came up two batters later and hit one over the center field wall, putting Montevallo ahead 2-0.
The Lady Flames responded with a solo shot in the bottom half of the first, cutting the deficit to, 2-1.
Lee added a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth to pull ahead 3-2.
Montevallo responded in the top of the fifth, as
Bentlee Stiner hit a solo home run to tie the game, 3-3.
The Lady Flames looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning, but a huge strikeout from
Taylor Lloyd stranded a pair of runners for Lee.
The Lady Flames added an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth, regaining the lead 4-3.
Stiner hit a double to put a runner in scoring position for Montevallo in the top of the seventh, but the Falcons were unable to bring her home as Lee took home the 4-3 victory.
