MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to host a three-game series against in-state foe, Alabama Huntsville this weekend.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo holds an overall record of 9-13 and a 3-6 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The next week the Falcons split a midweek doubleheader with Spring Hill, before dropping the weekend series with Mississippi College (2-1).
Last week, Montevallo split its midweek doubleheader with Columbus State, before dropping three games to No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene on the weekend.
This past week, the Falcons dropped a pair of games at Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday.
On the season,
Becca Benton has been solid, leading the way with a .340 batting average, while also holding team leads in doubles (six), home runs (two), and slugging percentage (.580).
Riley Tyree has a team-leading 20 hits.
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, pitching a total of 65.2 innings. Lloyd has a team leading-46 strikeouts and posts a 2.66 ERA.
Berkley Mooney has a 3.23 ERA in 26 innings pitched.

Alabama Huntsville holds an overall record of 11-10 and a 5-4 mark in GSC play.
UAH opened the season with a 6-5 mark in non-conference play. The Chargers defeated Washburn, Texas A&M Kingsville, Southern Arkansas, and Florida Southern (twice), while splitting with Saint Leo. The Chargers fell to Harding, No. 7 Augustana, and No. 10 Tampa (twice). UAH went on to sweep its first GSC series against Christian Brothers, before falling in a close midweek contest to No. 11 North Georgia. The Chargers have dropped consecutive series, falling on the road to Lee (1-2) and at home to Valdosta State (1-2).
Maddie Cartron leads multiple categories for the Chargers, including batting average (.435), hits (27), home runs (six), on-base percentage (.533), and slugging percentage (.823).
Two Chargers have seen the most time in the circle for UAH, with Katie Bracken (4-4) posting a 3.17 ERA in 64 innings pitched, while Megan Shurtz (6-5) posts a 3.66 ERA in 57.1 innings.
