MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team heads to Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. for the 2025 Gulf South Conference Tournament. The Falcons enter the tournament as the No. 7-seed and will face No. 2-seed West Florida on Wednesday, Apr. 30 at 12:30 p.m. CST.

So Far This Season…
Montevallo closed the regular season with a 30-22 overall record and a 19-14 mark in GSC play.
The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, which included wins over Kentucky Wesleyan, Shorter, and Young Harris. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The next week the Falcons split a midweek doubleheader with Spring Hill, before dropping the weekend series against Mississippi College (2-1). Montevallo then split its midweek doubleheader with Columbus State, before dropping three games at No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene on the weekend. The Falcons followed that up dropping a pair of midweek games at Georgia Southwestern, before falling in the weekend series to Alabama Huntsville (2-1). Montevallo went on to win five in a row, sweeping No. 24 West Alabama at home and notching a pair of run rule victories over Miles. The Falcons dropped its next series to Valdosta State, before rebounding with a doubleheader sweep at Miles and a 2-1 series victory at Lee. Montevallo won its second consecutive conference series the next weekend, sweeping Delta State at home. After splitting a doubleheader at Spring Hill, the Falcons continued its strong surge in conference play, sweeping Christian Brothers and Union.
The Falcons closed the regular season this past weekend with three tightly contested games at No. 6 Auburn Montgomery. The Falcons won game two, 3-2, capturing the highest ranked win in program history. The Falcon pitching staff only allowed four runs in 20 innings against the Warhawks.
On the season,
Bentlee Stiner posts the highest batting average (.336) and on-base percentage (.425).
Riley Tyree has the most hits (56), doubles (12), and triples (five), while
Molly Pendley has team leads in home runs (nine) and slugging percentage (.579).
Becca Benton has a team leading 34 RBIs.
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle and holds a 14-10 record. Lloyd has recorded 131 strikeouts and posts a 2.15 ERA in 163 innings of work.
Rachel Whiddon holds an 8-5 record, posting a 2.94 ERA in 62 innings pitched.

The Argos have gone 11-4 in non-conference action, which includes a win over then-No. 8 North Georgia. UWF opened the conference season against Montevallo, as the Falcons took two of three in Pensacola, Fla. The Argos followed that up with back-to-back sweeps over Christian Brothers and Delta State. UWF continued to push with consecutive 2-1 series wins over then-No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene and Alabama Huntsville, followed by a sweep over Union. UWF dropped its next series, dropping two of three against No. 5 Auburn Montgomery. The Argos followed that up with a 2-1 series victory over Lee, before dropping its next series to West Alabama 2-1. UWF closed the regular season with consecutive 2-1 series victories over Mississippi College and Valdosta State.
On the season, Gianna Guerriero leads the team in multiple categories, including batting average (.428), hits (74), triples (nine), on-base percentage (.429), and slugging percentage (.429). Guerriero leads the entire GSC with 37 stolen bases. Erin Moon leads the GSC in sacrifice flies (seven) and has a team leading 41 RBIs.
In the circle, Haley Guffey holds a 22-7 record, posting a 2.04 ERA in 202.1 innings of work. Hannah Harper holds an 11-6 record, posting a 3.22 ERA in 113 innings pitched.
Series History Against West Florida…
Since 2016, these two squads have met 28 times with UWF holding a 17-11 advantage in the overall series. The Falcons took two out of three in the regular season series in Pensacola. After dropping game one, 2-1, the Falcons responded with a 5-3 win in game two, followed by a 7-3 victory in the series finale.
