Pearl Earns GSC Freshman of the Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Montevallo baseball's Jacob Pearl has been named GSC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday, Apr. 8.
 
The Madison, Alabama native posted a 7-for-18 week where he totaled five runs scored, two doubles, three stolen bases, a home run and three RBI.
 
In the midweek against Georgia Southwestern, Pearl reached base four times with two singles and two hit by pitches. The freshman swiped a bag against the Hurricanes and scored three runs.
 
In game one against No. 12 Delta State, Pearl announced his presence with a solo homer off the top pitcher in the GSC, Drake Fontenot. Pearl has now homered off Fontenot and Tampa's Skylar Gonzalez, two of the top pitchers in all of Division II. He continued to set the table to the middle of the Falcon line up as he collected two hits in game two. Pearl stole two bases in the front end of the double-header as well. Pearl would pick up his third multi-hit game of the week with a two-hit effort in the Falcons series clinching victory against the Statesmen in game three.
 
On the season, he is hitting .370 with an OPS of 1.055. Pearl has 30 hits on the season including eight doubles and three homers. He has drove in 15 RBI and has an on base percentage of .475.
 
Pearl and the rest of the Falcons will next be in action on Tuesday, Apr. 8 as the Falcons take on the Shorter Hawks at 5 p.m. CT in Montevallo, Alabama.
