MOBILE, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team split its final midweek doubleheader of the season at Spring Hill on Wednesday. The Falcons defeated Spring Hill 4-1 in game one, before falling 1-0 in game two.

GAME ONE
Rachel Whiddon earned the start in the circle in game one and captured her fifth win of the season. The senior allowed no runs and struck out four Badgers in four innings of work. Kinsley Byrd closed the door on the Badgers and struck out four batters in 1.2 innings of work.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings, before the Falcons finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. Skylar Johnson and Kiley Christopher earned singles to put runners at the corners for Bentlee Stiner. Stiner hit a two-RBI double to put the Falcons ahead, 2-0. Riley Tyree followed that up with a two-run home run to extend the lead to, 4-0.

The Badgers responded with its first run of the day in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kinsley Byrd responded with a pair of strikeouts ending the Badger threat in the sixth to keep the Falcons ahead 4-1.
Byrd secured the final three outs in the bottom of the seventh, which included two more strikeouts, as Montevallo captured the 4-1 victory in game two.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd earned the start in the circle and held the Badgers scoreless in four innings of work.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings once again, until the Badgers plated a run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Falcons looked to respond in the top of the sixth, as Ariana Pinder walked, and Skylar Johnson singled up the middle, putting two on with one out. The Falcons were unable to capitalize, ultimately taking the one run deficit into the seventh inning.

Riley Tyree hit a double in the top of the seventh inning, but the Falcons were unable to score, as Spring Hill secured the 1-0 victory in game two.
