MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's cross-country teams are set to compete in the Falcon Classic on Friday, Sept. 12 in Montevallo, Ala. The women's 5K will be at 7:30 p.m., while the men's 8K follows at 8:15 p.m.
The meet will feature a competitive field that includes Gulf South Conference rivals West Alabama, Valdosta State, and Auburn Montgomery, giving the Falcons an early season look at some of the teams they will face in conference.
Montevallo Men
The Falcons look to bounce back after a ninth-place team finish at the UNA Invitational to open the 2025 season.
Zak Ferguson led the way in Florence, finishing tenth overall with a time of 25:37.56 in the 8K, his first top ten finish of the season.
Jackson Howse and
Joshua Howard also turned in strong performances, while
Owen Marquardt and
Estan Wrights rounded out the top five scorers for Montevallo. The team aims to improve its standings in Friday night's home meet under the lights.
Montevallo Women
On the women's side, Montevallo opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the UNA Invitational.
Morgan Remley led the Falcons with a 27
th-place finish in 19:39.24 followed closely by
Sable George in 28
th.
Ava Taylor came just shy of breaking the 20-minute mark with a time of 20:01.06, while
Olivia Blackmon and
Kaitlynn Moore provided key support to round out the Falcons' top five scorers. With a race on their home course, the women's squad will look to move up the leaderboard.
