Wrestling Earns NWCA Votes as Hunt Stays at No. 7

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Montevallo wrestling team continued to receive votes in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 25 Team Rankings released Thursday, while Cole Hunt remained ranked in the Top 10 at 125 pounds.

The Falcons earned 7.0 points in the national poll following a strong start to the 2026 portion of the schedule. Montevallo is set for a pair of ranked matchups over the next two weeks, taking on No. 19 King and No. 15 Lander.

Hunt held steady at No. 7 in the 125-pound weight class after posting three dual victories in January. The Sugar Valley, Ga., native earned an 8-5 decision over Emmanuel's then-No. 10 Braydon Mitchell before securing an 11-2 major decision against Larry Rhodes of Bluefield State. Hunt also picked up a forfeit victory against Emory & Henry. On the season, Hunt sits at 24-2 while leading the Falcons with pins with 12.
