MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Men's Basketball's
Brandon Fussell and Women's Basketball's
Audrey Hendrix as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Jan. 5.
Brandon Fussell (Men's Basketball)
Junior guard
Brandon Fussell put together a dominant week for the Falcons, leading Montevallo to a pair of convincing wins while showcasing his scoring ability, play making, and defensive presence. Across two games, Fussell averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals, while shooting efficiently from beyond the arc.
Fussell headlined Montevallo's return to conference play with a standout performance in an 89-62 victory over Auburn Montgomery. He led all scorers with 24 points, finishing 8-for-16 from three-point range, just one shy of the program record. Fussell caught fire early, knocking down five consecutive three-pointers in a three-minute span, accounting for all 15 of Montevallo's opening points. He added six assists and five rebounds, helping the Falcons build a lead that reached as many as 31 points.
He also had a strong all-around showing in a 91-61 non-conference win over Point to close out the calendar year. Fussell finished with 15 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and five steals, contributing on both ends of the floor as Montevallo controlled the game from start to finish.
Audrey Hendrix (Women's Basketball)
Sophomore guard
Audrey Hendrix delivered a strong offensive performance for the Falcons, leading Montevallo in scoring during its opening game of the 2026 calendar year. Hendrix averaged 8.0 points per game across the week while providing key perimeter scoring and defensive contributions.
Hendrix led all Falcons with 13 points in Montevallo's contest against Auburn Montgomery, finishing 5-of-12 from the floor and knocking down three three-pointers. She played a key role in Montevallo's early success, scoring seven of the team's first 10 points and helping the Falcons build an early advantage. Hendrix also added two rebounds in the game.
Across the two games on the week, Hendrix added five total rebounds, two blocks, and an assist, continuing to provide steady minutes and defensive presence on the perimeter.
