Falcons Set for Home Meeting with Emmanuel

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse hosts Emmanuel for Youth Day on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

The Falcons head into the weekend with a 1-2 overall record after falling to Newberry, 10-8, on Jan. 30 on the road to open the season. Montevallo responded with an 18-4 win over Shorter in Rome, Ga. on Feb. 7 for its first win of the season. Most recently, the Falcons dropped its home opener against Young Harris, 14-13, on Feb. 14.
 
Through three games, Montevallo averages 13.00 goals per game while adding 5.67 assists per game for an 18.67 points per game on average. The Falcons have posted a .464 shots percentage with an average of 28.00 shots per game and 21.00 shots on goal per game. Defensively, Montevallo allows 9.33 goals per game on a .533 save percentage while posting an average of 10.67 caused turnovers per game and 22.67 ground balls.
 
Ellery Shearer highlights Montevallo's offense with 12 points on 10 goals and two assists while adding three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Claire Withington ranks second on the squad with nine points on seven goals and two assists while Mikaela Barbieri leads the team with four assists. Bridget Quayle leads the Falcons' defense with six caused turnovers and eight ground balls while adding five draw controls. In the net, Ashlei Piazza has tallied a .510 save percentage with a total of 26 saves for 11.11 goals against average.
 
Emmanuel heads into Saturday's matchup with a 1-3 overall record after opening the season on the road at No. 11 Flagler for a 17-1 loss. The Lions then went on the road to Lee on Feb. 11 in a 22-11 loss before picking up a 15-14 overtime win over Tusculum on Feb. 14. Most recently, Emmanuel fell to Belmont Abbey, 15-7, on Feb. 17.
 
Through four games, Emmanuel has posted an average of 9.50 points per game on 5.50 goals and 4.00 assists per game. The Lions have averaged 11.50 shots per game and 8.25 shots on goal per game while recording a .478 shot percentage. Emmanuel allows 7.25 goals per game with a .383 save percentage while posting 4.00 caused turnovers per game and 5.75 ground balls.
 
Meghan Jennings leads Emmanuel's offense with 14 points on eight goals and a team-high six assists while adding six ground balls and four draw controls. Taylor Schubert has also tallied eight goals on the season while adding three assists for a total of 11 points. Demi Czynski ranks third on the squad with five goals and four assists while leading the team with 17 draw controls. In the net, Emily Dawson and Avery Atkins have split time in goal with Dawson posting 22 saves for a .386 percentage while Atkins recorded 17 saves and a .340 save percentage.
