MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to play four games this weekend at the Chattanooga Invitational.
The Falcons open the weekend the with games against McKendree and No. 8 West Texas A&M on Friday (Feb. 6), before closing action with a pair of contests against Ohio Dominican and Young Harris on Saturday (Feb. 7).
Montevallo is 2-0 on the season, after capturing wins over No. 18 Rogers State (5-1) and Middle Georgia State (3-2).
Taylor Lloyd was solid in the circle, going 2-0 on the week with a 0.84 ERA and ten strikeouts.
Riley Tyree finished opening weekend with a team high .429 batting average and three hits. Tyree provided the game-tying and game-winning RBIs to lift Montevallo over Middle Georgia in eight innings.
Emma Hawkins leads the team in RBIs (three), while
Bentlee Stiner and
Ariana Pinder each hit home runs on opening day.
McKendree enters the week with a 3-1 record, after opening the season in the Branson Lead Off Classic last week. The Bearcats captured wins over Minnesota Crookston, Arkansas Tech, and Northwestern Oklahoma State, before falling in extra innings to No. 11 Central Oklahoma.
No. 8 West Texas A&M got off to a hot 6-0 start at the South Central Regional Challenge. The Buffs dominated its competition, outscoring its opponents by a combined score of 67-1. The Buffs swept national weekly honors, as Jordyn De Los Santos was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week and Brooke Janning was named Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week.
Ohio Dominican will open the season in Chattanooga. The Panthers finished the 2025 season with a 27-27 overall record last season.
Young Harris enters the week with a 1-1 record, after splitting a doubleheader at Georgia College (8-6, 2-3) last week.
