MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set for a road trip to former conference opponent Shorter on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m.
OFFICIAL SCHEDULE
The Falcons opened the season on the road at Newberry on Jan. 30 and took a 10-8 loss in the season opener. Montevallo tallied a total of 18 shots on the day while adding 10 shots on goal and a 16-for-22 mark in clears. Defensively, Montevallo posted 14 saves on the day while picking up 15 ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Claire Withington led Montevallo's attack in the season opener with three points on three goals while firing three shots with all three on frame.
Ellery Shearer posted a pair of goals on the day with a team-high five shots and four shots on goal while
Chloe Norman,
Gencie Coan, and
Kennedy Goddard each tallied a goal apiece. In the net, junior
Ashlei Piazza posted 14 saves on 32 shots faced while adding nine ground balls.
Shorter opens the season against Montevallo on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks finished the 2025 season with a 4-10 overall record and a 2-6 mark in Conference Carolinas action. Shorter saw a trio of athletes named a CC Players to Watch after strong 2025 seasons. Cassidy Jones finished 2025 with a team-high 51 points on 24 goals and 27 assists with starts in all 14 games for Shorter. Kaitlyn Dwyer-Peppers enters 2026 after posting 19 goals in 2025 with five assists for a total of 24 points while adding 12 ground balls on the season. Maggie Wallace rounds out the trio of Players to Watch after posting 15 points in 2025 with 13 goals and two assists while adding 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
