MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse hits the road this weekend for a ranked matchup, traveling to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on No. 8 Lynn on Saturday, March 21 at 4 p.m.
The Falcons enter the game with a 3-6 overall record after picking up a dominant 20-4 win over Virginia State in their most recent outing. Montevallo has shown offensive consistency through nine games, averaging 12.22 goals per game on 23.8 shots while posting a .514 shooting percentage. The Falcons also average 4.78 assists per game and have totaled 153 ground balls and 80 caused turnovers this season.
Claire Withington leads Montevallo offensively with 26 points on 20 goals and six assists.
Ellery Shearer follows closely with 25 points, scoring a team-high 22 goals.
Asha Jamieson adds 16 points and leads the team with 13 draw controls, while
Chloe Norman contributes across the board with 14 points, 13 ground balls, and 12 draw controls.
Mikaela Barbieri has been the primary facilitator with a team-high nine assists.
Defensively,
Bridget Quayle anchors the unit with a team-best 13 caused turnovers while adding 15 ground balls. In goal,
Ashlei Piazza has started all nine games, recording 69 saves with a .431 save percentage.
Lynn enters the matchup ranked No. 8 nationally with a 5-2 overall record and has won four of its last five contests. The Fighting Knights average 14.14 goals per game while allowing just 9.00 goals per game, showing one of the more balanced teams Montevallo will face this season.
Rebecca Clark leads Lynn with 24 points on 21 goals and three assists, while Angelia Huggins has 26 points and Elizabeth Clagett with 25 points, providing additional offensive firepower. Defensively, Clark leads the team with 20 caused turnovers, while Emily Solomon has been dominant on draws with a team-high 33. In goal, Ava Ceglia has logged most minutes, posting a 9.08 goals-against average.
