MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Track & Field secured a pair of fourth-place team finishes to close the GSC Outdoor Championships on Friday.
Montevallo saw a pair of top-finishes on the men's side, as Jeremiah Fails earned the 100m crown, placing first with a time of 10.51. Fails also teamed up with Chason Howard, Jamell Beatty, and Steven Posey to secure a top-finish in the 4x100m Relay with a school record time of 40.65. Fails picked up a another podium finish in the 200m, placing second with a school record time of 21.13. After a solid weekend overall, Fails was named Most Outstanding Overall Performer.
Drew Cheslock also earned a podium finish in the 400m, placing third with a time of 48.27.
A pair of Falcon men earned podium finishes in the field, as Zane Weeks placed second in the Javelin with a throw of 59.64m and Christopher Johnson placed second in the Shot Put with a throw of 15.64m.
Other point contributors on the men's side on day three included Marquis Trainer (110m Hurdles: fourth -15.01), Kam Thornton (400m Hurdles: fourth – 54.45), Tyrone Reese (110m Hurdles: fifth – 15.05), Jamell Beatty (100m: sixth – 10.77), Ryan Cox (1500m: seventh – 3:58.26), Tyrone Reese (400m Hurdles: seventh – 57.24), Justin Sumlin (Javelin: eighth – 49.64m), and Cooper Myl (Shot Put: eighth – 14.64m)
Katie Wilkerson led the way on the women's side, earning podium finish in the Javelin. Wilkerson placed second with a school record throw of 44.45m. Elizabeth Hayhurst finished right behind her, placing third with a throw of 40.31m.
Other point contributors include Cesleigh Martin (Shot Put: fifth – 11.69m), Katlynn Brothers (Javelin: sixth – 35.90m), Ka'Mya Jackson (400m: sixth – 57.41), Saskia Rhind (400m Hurdles: sixth – 1:07.70), Lauren Dellezay (400m Hurdles: eighth – 1:14:56), and Emma Michael (Javelin: eighth – 34.37m).
