MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse is set to head to Tigerville, S.C. to take on North Greenville on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m.

The Falcons head into Saturday's meeting with a 1-5 overall record after opening the season on the road at Newberry for a 10-8 loss. Montevallo picked up its first win of the season with an 18-4 road win over Shorter on Feb. 7. UM's home opener saw the Falcons drop a meeting with Young Harris, 14-13, on Feb. 14. The Falcons then fell in overtime, 15-14, on Feb. 21 to Emmanuel at home. Montevallo then hosted No. 6 Embry-Riddle on Feb. 27 for a 22-6 loss before falling to No. 11 Saint Leo, 20-6, on March 1.
Through six games, Montevallo averages 10.83 goals per game on an average of 22.50 shots per game and 18.00 shots on goal per game. The Falcons also add an average of 4.83 assists per game for 15.67 points in the first six games of the season. Montevallo has tallied an average of 17.17 ground balls per game while adding an average of 9.00 draw controls to start the season. Defensively, Montevallo posts a .426 save percentage with 14.17 goals allowed per game while recording a total of 8.67 caused turnovers per game.
Ellery Shearer leads Montevallo's attack with a total of 19 points on 17 goals and 2 assists while adding three free-position goals on nine attempts to go along with seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Claire Withington ranks second on the team with 16 points while scoring 12 goals and adding four assists with six ground balls and seven draw controls.
Mikaela Barbieri leads the team with eight assists while adding a pair of goals for 10 points on the season. Bridget Qauyle and
Hailey Jasuta are tied with Shearer for the most caused turnovers on the team with seven while Quayle adds 11 ground balls and six draw controls. In the net,
Ashlei Piazza has carried the load with six starts while posting a .429 save percentage with 51 saves while posting a 15.76 goals against average.
North Greenville heads into the weekend with a 1-5 record after falling to Tusculum, 18-8, on Feb. 7 in the season opener. The Trailblazers then dropped a meeting with Lincoln Memorial, 16-7, on Feb. 11 before falling to Newberry, 16-3, on Feb. 14. NGU hosted Lee on Feb. 17 for a 16-12 loss before falling to Palm Beach Atlantic, 13-6, on Feb. 24. Most recently, North Greenville picked up its first win of the season with an 11-7 win over Coker on the road on March 2.
Through its first six games, North Greenville averages 7.20 goals per game on an average of 19.00 shots per game with 13.20 shots on goal. The Trailblazers add an average of 2.40 assists per game for a total of 9.60 points. NGU has tallied an average of 9.16 ground balls per game while posting 13.60 draw controls and a .659 clearing percentage. Defensively, NGU allows 15.80 goals per game on a .331 save percentage while recording an average of 6.20 caused turnovers per game.
Mary Regan leads the team with a total of 13 points on nine goals and four assists while adding a pair of caused turnovers. Ava Walls ranks second on the squad with 11 points on seven goals and four assists while Aubree Mayse has tallied ten points on eight goals and two assists with a team-high 28 draw controls. Kami Straub is tied at the top of the team with nine goals while adding 16 draw controls and eight ground balls. In the net, Sydney Spelman has posted a total of 48 saves on the season for a .358 save percentage and a 14.33 goals against average.
