MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 17 Montevallo softball heads south for a midweek doubleheader at Spring Hill on Tuesday.
Montevallo enters the week with a 35-7 overall record and an 18-6 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons won its seventh consecutive GSC series victory last weekend, taking two of three from Christian Brothers.
On the season, Taylor Rogers leads the way with a .417 batting average and 55 hits, while holding a team leading 37 stolen bases. Bentlee Stiner holds a team leading 42 RBIs, while Becca Benton has a team leading 12 home runs. Taylor Lloyd leads the way in the circle with a 22-3 record, 1.51 ERA, and 140 strikeouts in 166.2 innings of work. Kinsley Byrd holds a 9-3 record, 2.16 ERA, and 41 strikeouts in 71.1 innings of action.
Spring Hill enters the week with a 24-18 overall record and a 16-2 mark in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Meadow Villar leads the way at the plate with a .465 batting average, 60 hits, 41 RBIs, and nine home runs. Bethany Ahrens (10-8) has seen the most time in the circle, posting a 2.91 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 103.1 innings.
These two teams faced off earlier this season, as Montevallo swept a doubleheader over Spring Hill (7-4, 6-1) at Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
First pitch on Tuesday is set for 1:30 p.m. CST in Mobile, Ala.
