HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Montevallo Track and Field closed the regular season strong with 14 individual podium finishes on Saturday at the UAH Rocket City Invitational.
Ka'Mya Jackson had a stellar day on the track, earning two podium finishes with a pair of school record times. The freshman placed first in the 200m with a record time of 24.40 and third in the 400m with a record time of 56.84. Jackson also ran a 12.11 in the 100m.
Leah Dendy led the way for the Falcon women on the field, earning a top finish in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.20m. Katie Wilkerson also had a solid day with a pair of podium finishes, placing second in the Javelin (40.97m) and third in the Discus (43.80m). Makala Sims earned a podium finish in the Javelin, placing third with a throw of 38.36m.
Christopher Johnson led the way for the Falcon men, earning a top finish in the Discus with a school record throw of 56.43m. Two other Falcon throwers earned podium finishes, as Ethan Fox placed third in the Discus (47.59m) and Zane Weeks placed third in the Javelin (60.10m). Eran Foye Jr. led the way for the jumps, placing third with a height of 1.96m.
Drew Cheslock and Tyrone Reese led the way for the Falcon men on the track, as Cheslock placed second in the 400m with a time of 48.63 and Reese placed second in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.76. Marquis Trainer placed third in the 110m Hurdles (15.04) and Kam Thornton placed third in the 400m Hurdles (53.76).
After strong performances this weekend, Jeremiah Fails (100m) and Zane Weeks (Javelin) join Christopher Johnsons as Falcons to earn NCAA Provisional Marks this outdoor season.
Montevallo returns to action in two weeks, as the Falcons are set to host the Gulf South Conference Championships (Apr. 29 - May 1).
