MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse continues its Gulf South Conference schedule with a trip to Lander on Saturday, April 4.

Montevallo heads into Saturday's matchup with a 3-9 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after opening the season with a 10-8 loss on the road at Newberry on Jan. 30. The Falcons picked up their first win of the season on Feb. 7 with an 18-4 road victory of Shorter before opening the home schedule with a 14-13 loss against Young Harris on Feb. 14. Montevallo fell in overtime, 15-14, to Emmanuel on Feb. 21 before hosting No. 6 Embry-Riddle and No. 11 Saint Leo for back-to-back losses. The Falcons picked up a 12-10 win over North Greenville on the road on March 7 before falling to Belmont Abbey, 14-13, on March 14. Montevallo opened GSC action with a 20-4 win over Virginia State on March 16 before going on a two-game road trip to Florida for losses at No. 8 Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic. Most recently, Montevallo fell to No. 24 UAH, 18-5, in Huntsville, Ala. on March 28.
The Falcons' offense averages 14.75 points per game on an average of 10.50 goals per game and 4.25 assists while posting a .490 free-position percentage. On the draw, Montevallo adds a .390 draw percentage with 9.58 draw controls per game while posting an average of 17.42 ground balls and posting a .752 clearing percentage. Defensively, Montevallo allows 13.25 goals per game while posting a .434 save percentage and adding an average of 8.75 caused turnovers per game.
Ellery Shearer leads Montevallo with a total of 31 points on 27 goals and four assists while adding 12 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.
Claire Withington ranks second on the team with 28 points on 22 goals and six assists while posting nine ground balls and eight draw controls.
Bridget Quayle highlights UM's defense with a team-high 17 caused turnovers while adding 22 ground balls, 10 draw controls and 13 points with 10 goals and three assists.
Ashlei Piazza leads Montevallo's keepers with 94 saves on the season for a .425 save percentage while posting a 15.24 goals against average.
Lander holds a 5-7 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after opening the season with a 16-8 loss to Anderson before picking up an 11-4 win over Newbery on Feb. 18. The Bearcats then fell to No. 15 Wingate, 17-6, on the road on Feb. 22 before topping Mount Olive, 9-8, on Feb. 25. Lander then fell in back-to-back meetings with No. 5 Tampa and No. 2 Florida Southern before picking up a 15-14 win over No. 19 Florida Tech on March 7. The Bearcats then added a 14-11 win over IUP before falling to No. 7 Slippery Rock on March 14. Lander opened conference action with a 16-7 win over Lee on March 22 before dropping a meeting with No. 5 Embry-Riddle, 19-8, on March 26. Most recently, Lander fell to No. 1 Flagler, 24-5, on March 28.
Lander's attack averages 8.75 goals per game while adding 3.67 assists for an average of 12.42 points per game while posting a .417 shots percentage. On the draw, Lander controls an average of 10.58 per game for a .444 draw control percentage while adding 15.33 ground balls and a .736 clearing percentage. Defensively, Lander allows 13.92 goals per game on a .353 save percentage while adding an average of 7.58 caused turnovers per game.
Kylie Fragala leads the team with a total of 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists while adding eight ground balls and nine draw controls. Caroline Nicholson ranks second on the team with 26 points on 21 goals and five assists while posting a total of five draw controls and three ground balls. Emilia Tippett, Ella Benson and Kaia Morey all hold a team-high 24 draw controls while Morey leads the team with 28 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. In goal, Zoe Cotheran and Emersin Clamp have split time in goal with Cothern posting a .322 save percentage and 47 saves while Clamp posted a .393 save percentage with 44 saves on the season.
