LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its latest NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday, as Montevallo rose three spots to No. 17.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 33-6 and a 16-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons earned 122 points to earn the No. 17 spot., after winning its sixth consecutive GSC series with a sweep of Delta State. Montevallo is currently riding a 12-game winning streak overall.
The Falcons currently rank first in the GSC in batting average, hitting a league-best .320 as a team. The Montevallo pitching staff also ranks first, posting a league-best 1.85 ERA.
Taylor Rogers leads the way at the plate, ranking second in the GSC in hits (52) and fifth in batting average (.423), while also leading the league with 35 stolen bases which ranks ninth in DII. Rogers was named GSC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time on Tuesday morning.
Taylor Lloyd leads the way in the circle with 21 wins which ranks first in the GSC and second in DII. Lloyd also leads the league in innings pitched (152.2 – fourth in DII), while ranking second in strikeouts (132) and ERA (1.51).
Two other teams were mentioned in this week's poll including No. 6 AUM and No. 15 West Florida.
Montevallo returns to action this weekend, hosting Christian Brothers in a three-game series (Apr. 10-11).
