BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced its Week One Volleyball Players of the Week awards with Montevallo's
Mallory Hulsey and
Ava Wind earning conference honors.

Hulsey led the conference in the opening weekend with 63 total kills and an average of 4.50 kills per set on a .317 hitting percentage to lead Montevallo to a 3-1 start to the season. The sophomore opened the season with 19 kills and a .515 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Ouachita Baptist before adding 11 kills in Montevallo's lone loss of the weekend. On Aug. 29, Hulsey posted 12 kills on a .235 mark in a 3-0 win over McKendree before closing the weekend with a total of 21 kills and a .409 hitting percentage in a five-set win over Maryville.
Wind, a junior libero from Cedar Park, Texas, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting 74 digs on the week with a conference-high 5.29 digs per set. In a win over OBU, Wind posted 15 digs before adding 20 digs in a loss to Harding on Aug. 28. The following day, the junior recorded 16 digs in a 3-0 sweep of McKendree before closing the tournament with 23 digs in a 3-2 victory over Maryville.
Hulsey and Wind will join the Falcons on Friday, Sept. 4 for the USC Aiken Invitational in Aiken, S.C. to take on Lander.
