BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo freshman
Sebastian Samuels has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career.
Samuels batted .583 (7-of-12) with a pair of home runs and a OPS above 1.000 while leading the Falcons to a sweep of West Alabama in Gulf South Conference play.
Samuels drove in six runs and scored seven runs while also recording his first stolen base of the season.
Samuels doubled his home run total on the season, going from two homers to four in the sweep of the Falcons' in-state rivals.
Samuels and the Falcons will return to action this weekend with a three-game Gulf South Conference series on the road at Union University.
