PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team (5-9) fell on the road at the University of West Florida (8-7), 3-0. UM was led by sophomore Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) who had a team-high 10 kills. UM fell in straight sets 25-20, 25-14 and 25-21.
The Falcons hit just .167 as a team while the Argonauts hit .312. Freshman Michelle Walker (Houston, Texas/Elkins) was second on the team in kills with six while sophomore Michelle Carle (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) added five. Walker also added seven digs.
Senior Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) had 23 assists and seven digs while senior Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) led the team in digs with 14.
The Falcons had just three blocks as a team and Carle led the way with a pair of block assists.
Haley Shackelford led the Argonauts with 13 kills and nine digs while Autumn Duyn added 12 kills and nine digs.
UM will return to action Friday, Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m. as the Falcons travel to Lander University for a Peach Belt Conference match-up. The Bearcats are currently 7-7 on the season and 1-2 in PBC play.
