Falcons swept by Francis Marion in conference match

FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to Francis Marion University 9-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match March 17.

The Patriots entered the match ranked No. 11 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II women's tennis rankings. The Falcons (6-6 overall, 2-5 in Peach Belt Conference) dropped all six singles' matches and all three doubles' matches against Francis Marion.

Sophomore Niki Polcerova fell to Mona Blauen of Francis Marion 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles' match. Junior Haley Highfield fell to Tereza Baranova of Francis Marion 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles' match.

Freshman Allison Howell fell to Julia Graf of Francis Marion 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles' match. Sophomore Anais Robert fell to Kimberly Hurter of Francis Marion 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.

Freshman Juanita Ossa fell to Nora Westbye of Francis Marion 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Senior Lauren Blair fell to Caitlin Siney of Francis Marion 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Polcerova and Robert fell to Blauen and Graf 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Highfield and Howell fell to Baranova and Westbye 9-7 in the No. 2 doubles' match.

Blair and Ossa fell to Hurter and Lena Specht of Francis Marion 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons return to action Monday, March 18 with a match on the road at UNC Pembroke at 11 a.m. CST.
