AMERICUS, Ga. - The University of Montevallo women's tennis team won their Wednesday afternoon match against the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes, 7-2.
Montevallo won all of the doubles matches and took four of the six singles bouts.
All of Montevallo's singles wins came in straight sets. In No. 1 singles, Niki Polcerova won 6-1, 6-4. Liucija Smaizytke also won in the No. 2 singles match, earning an impressive 6-2, 6-1 win.
Anais Robert lost a close No. 3 singles match, 6-7, 4-6. Allison Howell dropped the No. 4 singles match, 4-6, 3-6.
Haley Highfield won in the No. 5 singles match, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 6 singles, Juanita Ossa was victorious, 6-2, 6-4.
In the doubles clean sweep, Polcerova and Robert won at No. 1, 8-6. Howell and Highfield won the No. 2 match, 8-3. Smaizytke and Ossa rounded out the Falcon triumph with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Falcons, who are currently ranked 9th in the Southeast Region, are now 7-5 on the year and 4-4 in the Peach Belt Conference.
The next match for Montevallo is this Saturday, March 29th. They will return home to take on Flagler in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
