MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Georgia College 5-4 in a Peach Belt Conference match March 8.

The Falcons (5-3 overall, 2-2 in Peach Belt Conference) won two singles matches and two doubles matches against the Bobcats, who entered the match ranked No. 27 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II women's tennis rankings.

Junior Niki Polcerova defeated Macy Polk of Georgia College 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. Junior Liucija Smaizyte topped the Bobcats' Camille Clausse-Pujo 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 2 singles match.

Polcerova and junior Anais Robert defeated Polk and Clausee-Pujo 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles match. Senior Haley Highfield and sophomore Allison Howell defeated Katie Krupp and Ivana Marevic of Georgia College 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles match.

Robert fell to Marevic 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match. Howell dropped the No. 4 singles match against the Bobcats' Cristalei Polk, 6-3 in the first set before retiring with a 4-0 deficit in the second set.

Highfield fell to Hannah Serdinia of Georgia College 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles match. Sophomore Juanita Ossa fell to Krupp 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles match.

Smaizyte and Ossa fell to Cristalei Polk and Serdinia 9-7 in the No. 3 doubles match.

The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 9 with a Peach Belt Conference match on the road at GRU Augusta.

First serve is set for 12 p.m.
