MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated visiting Clayton State University 5-4 in its final home match April 5 on Senior Day.

The Falcons (8-6 overall, 5-5 in Peach Belt Conference) won three singles matches and two singles matches.

Junior Niki Polcerova defeated Zinnia Leamana of Clayton State 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match. Sophomore Allison Howell topped the Lakers' Kristin Mets 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 in the No. 4 singles match.

The Lakers' forfeited the No. 6 singles match.

Polcerova and junior Anais Robert defeated Leamana and Marina Dedaj of Clayton State 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match. The Lakers also forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.

Montevallo celebrated the career of Haley Highfield as part of Senior Day festivities before the match.

The Falcons return to action Wednesday, April 9 with a Peach Belt Conference match on the road at Columbus State University.
