MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Georgia College 5-1 in Peach Belt Conference action Feb. 15.
Junior Allison Howell and freshman Grace-Laura Rowe recorded the lone win for the Falcons (2-2 overall, 0-2 in Peach Belt Conference) with a 8-4 win over Jena Kelly and Katie Krupp of Georgia College in the No. 2 doubles' match.
The Bobcats, who are ranked No. 26 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II rankings, improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play with two doubles' victories and three wins in singles' action.
Senior Anais Robert fell to the Bobcats' Kristen Jones 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles' match. Rowe dropped the No. 5 singles' match against Emma Niemi of Georgia College 6-1, 6-3. Senior Octavia Saunders fell to Cristalei Polk of Georgia College 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Senior Nikola Polcerova and Robert fell to Camille Clausse-Pujo and Jones of Georgia College 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Junior Juanita Ossa and Saunders fell to the Bobcats' Macy Polk and Niemi 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The remaining three singles' matches went unfinished.
The Falcons return to action Saturday, Feb. 21 with a Peach Belt Conference match against Georgia Southwestern.
First serve is set for 2 p.m.
