MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Columbus State University 5-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match March 25.
The Falcons (5-6 overall, 2-5 in Peach Belt Conference) forfeited two matches with only five players in the lineup against the Cougars, who are ranked No. 9 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II rankings, and dropped a pair of doubles' matches and a singles' match to give Columbus State the 5-0 victory.
Junior Allison Howell fell to Kirsa Utech of Columbus State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles' match. The remaining four singles' matches went unfinished
Seniors Nikola Polcerova and Anais Robert dropped the No. 1 doubles' match against the Cougars' Camila Tobar and Utech, 8-3. Howell and freshman Grace-Laura Rowe fell to Olivera Tadijin and Elena Preadca 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, March 28 with a trip to Morrow, Georgia to take on Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference match.
