ALBANY, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team swept all six singles' matches and all three doubles' matches on its way to a 9-0 win over host Albany State University in a non-conference match March 30.
Senior Nikola Polcerova, who is ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region singles' rankings, paced the Falcons (6-7) with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of the Rams' Vivian Moultrie in the No. 1 singles' match.
Junior Allison Howell defeated Samantha Heard of Albany State 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles' match. Senior Anais Robert topped the Rams' Keona Livatt 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles' action.
Freshman Grace-Laura Rowe defeated Kiara Thompson of Albany State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match. Senior Octavia Saunders swept the Rams' Cheryl Felton 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles' match.
Senior Meagan Stevens defeated Lizz Hale of Albany State 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles' match in her first action of the season.
Polcerova and Robert topped Livatt and Moultrie 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Howell and Rowe swept Thompson and Heard 8-0 in No. 2 doubles' action.
Saunders and Stevens won the No. 3 doubles' match by default.
The Falcons return to action Friday, April 3 with a Peach Belt Conference match against Young Harris College on their home courts.
First serve is set for 1 p.m.
