ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – University of Montevallo senior Nikola Polcerova defeated Barbora Sebkova of Flagler College 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles' match to give the Falcons their lone win in a 8-1 setback against the nationally-ranked Saints.

Polcerova, who is ranked No. 9 in latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II Southeast Region singles' rankings, improved to 7-0 in No. 1 singles' action this season for the Falcons, who fell to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in Peach Belt Conference play.

The Saints, who are ranked No. 28 nationally, took the remaining five singles' matches and all three doubles' matches.

Junior Allison Howell fell to Esther Santiago of Flagler 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles' match. Senior Anais Robert dropped the No. 3 singles' match against the Saints Thaisa Pereira, 6-0, 6-4.

Junior Juanita Ossa fell to Kelly Stewart of Flagler 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match. Senior Octavia Saunders dropped the No. 5 singles' match against the Saints' Mary Jo Nanti, 6-0, 6-0.

Freshman Grace-Laura Rowe fell to Krista Ingrilli of Flagler 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Polcerova and Robert dropped the No. 1 doubles' match against Pereira and Nanti 8-4. Howell and Rowe fell to Sebkova and Stewart 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles' match.

Ossa and Saunders fell to Santiago and Ingrilli 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 8 with a Peach Belt Conference match at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia.
